Its inherent stain resistance arises from its lack of dye sites, the fact that it absorbs nearly zero water and the fact that it is \u003cstrong\u003echemically inert.\u003c\/strong\u003e In fact, chlorine bleach and even battery acid have no effect on it. It is \u003cstrong\u003einherently mold resistant.\u003c\/strong\u003e It is also resistant to fading from sunlight and is, therefore, the \u003cstrong\u003efiber of choice for outdoor use.\u003c\/strong\u003e Olefin’s biggest drawbacks are its \u003cstrong\u003elack of resilience\u003c\/strong\u003e (ability of the fiber tuft to bounce back after traffic), its \u003cstrong\u003estrong attraction for oily soils,\u003c\/strong\u003e and its \u003cstrong\u003epropensity to wick stains \u003c\/strong\u003emore than nylon resulting in more frequent complaints of “\u003cstrong\u003ereappearing spots”\u003c\/strong\u003e, streaking, \u003cstrong\u003eyellowing\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eresoiling\u003c\/strong\u003e. Also, because it has a much lower melting point than nylon, friction from moving furniture or casters can permanently damage the fibers. Additionally, a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.baneclene.com\/ProSpotGuide\/Content.aspx?xps=MzIz\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"If the belt on a vacuum cleaner breaks and the operator doesn’t immediately notice it and stop the machine, severe black marks will be put on the carpet, especially on olefin carpet.\"\u003ebroken vacuum cleaner belt \u003c\/a\u003ewill seriously and permanently damage an olefin rug or carpet, melting the rubber into the fiber.
