How To Get Tumeric Stains Out Of A Carpet
The best way to treat any stubborn carpet stain is to use specially formulated chemicals for carpet cleaning. We have a range of products tailor-made to clean any mess and remove any stain.
The Best Way To Remove Turmeric Stains From A Carpet
The professional way is always the best. The main problem with turmeric is that it leaves a brightly colored stain. This will be especially noticeable on light-colored carpets.
Turmeric can be used as a dye. This is why it is so notoriously hard to remove with conventional cleaning methods. But it’s no match for our stain and spot removal products. One of our top-selling stain removers is Rave Spotter. This product removes 98% of stains caused by food and beverage spills.
Use as directed on the product packaging, to treat the turmeric stain on your carpet. It can also be used on other carpet stains that you’ve been fretting about. So use it to remove red wine from the carpet, remove tea stains from a carpet or even remove chocolate milk stains from carpets.
Home Remedies For Removing Turmeric Stains From Carpets
If you do not have any carpet chemicals at your disposal, you may be tempted to try a home remedy. DIY cleaning hacks are not nearly as effective for treating stubborn stains like turmeric. But if you need a home remedy that works, you could try this.
Baking Soda Method
Using baking soda is a safe, natural, and effective stain removal remedy for many accidental food and beverage stains. It has even successfully been used to clean chocolate from carpets and to clean sour milk from carpets.
Baking soda will draw the color stain out and trap it on the surface, where it can be cleaned away. It is also one of the gentlest and best ways to remove coffee stains from the carpet. Most of you probably have a box of it in your kitchen. It is effective on both fresh and dried stains. You will need:
- Baking Soda
- A spoon
- Paper Towels
- 2 soft, clean cloths
- Old, clean towel
- Water
- A bowl
- Mild dish detergent
- An old, clean, soft toothbrush
Step 1
If you have spilled curry or similar food on your carpet, first use a paper towel or s spoon to scoop up the food. If the stain is still wet, blot the excess moisture up with more paper towels or a soft, clean cloth or old towel.
If you spilled turmeric spice itself onto the carpet in dry form, scoop it up with a spoon. Do not rub the turmeric on the carpet. Gently lift it up with the spoon.
Step 2
Mix 1 tablespoon of mild, bleach-free dish soap, 1 tbsp of baking soda, and 1 cup of cool water in a bowl until dissolved.
Step 3
Dip the cloth into the solution and squeeze it over the stain until the area has been saturated.
Step 4
Gently scrub the stained area with the old toothbrush. Use a circular motion, moving inwards from the edge of the stain, to prevent spreading. Take care not to exert too much force.
Step 5
Blot the stain with the towel, to lift the stain out.
You may need to repeat steps 4 and 5 a few times, for set-in turmeric stains. Lastly, use the other cloth, dampened with plain water, to mop up any remaining residue before allowing the carpet to air dry.
Glycerin Method
Glycerin is another stain removal hack that can be effective for removing mild turmeric stains. You will need:
- A bottle of glycerin
- Water
- A plastic spray bottle
- An old, clean towel
- A soft, clean scrubbing brush
Step 1
Mix equal amounts of glycerin and water in the spray bottle. Set this aside for the moment. Then add some plain tap water to the stain and wait a moment, before blotting the excess with the towel.
Step 2
Shake the spray bottle to mix the contents thoroughly, and spray the mixture onto the stain. Wait for 215 minutes before blotting with the towel.
Repeat the process of spraying and blotting, taking care to move to a clean part of the towel each time to prevent spreading the stain back into the carpet. Allow the carpet to dry naturally.
Stubborn Stain Removal
Because turmeric can be a difficult stain to treat, especially if it was allowed to seep into the carpet fibers, you may still be left with a slight discoloration after cleaning.
We recommend that you purchase our Rave Spotter or better yet, our Red Action color stain remover to remove this stain completely, at your earliest convenience. These products can both be used to treat a multitude of spills and stains, and can even clean hot chocolate from carpets.
But if you need the most effective treatment for removing red food coloring from the carpet, you can’t go wrong with Red Action. It will remove not only red color stains but virtually any color stain from carpets and couches.
Red Action is best used for hot water extraction carpet cleaning, but can also be used as a spot treatment before deep cleaning with a carpet cleaning machine. You will get a lot of use out of this versatile stain remover, so be sure to buy a bottle of Red Action as soon as possible.
